PURPOSE:To obtain a steel strip having a degree of luster being equal or superior to that of a Sendzimir mill product, by varying specifically the surface roughness of a work roller, when rolling and manufacturing a stainless steel strip by a cold tandem mill. CONSTITUTION:In the first, or the first and the second stands of a tandem mill, a stainless steel strip is rolled by a work roller having the surface roughness whose average roughness Ra is >=0.5mu. This steel strip is rolled by a work roller whose roll surface roughness has been reduced gradually toward the post-stage stands, and rolled by a work roller having the surface roughness whose average roughness Ra is <=0.15mu, in the last stand.
