PURPOSE:To miniaturize and lighten a wand itself, and to obtain an electrical noise-resistant device by connecting a bar code wand to a control part with an optical fiber cable. CONSTITUTION:Light irradiated from a light emitting element 1 is introduced to an optical fiber cable 4b, and is emitted from a lens 9 located at the tip of a wand 6. An optical signal reflected at a bar code 7 is inputted to an optical fiber cable 4a through the lens 9 located at the tip of the wand 6, and is introduced to a light receiving element 2 at a control part 8. An electrical signal from the light receiving element 2 is inputted to a decoder circuit 5 through an amplifier circuit 3, then analyzed.
