PURPOSE:To accomplish clutch engagement without shock by forming a pressure regulating chamber in a piston housing, and providing a pressure control valve for opening and closing an exhaust pressure port according to whether the pressure of the second hydraulic chamber is below or above a designated value when clutch working liquid pressure is supplied in the pressure regulating chamber. CONSTITUTION:A piston housing 3 is provided with a passage 21 extending from the first hydraulic chamber 15 through an orifice 21a to the second hydraulic chamber 11, an exhaust pressure port 22 opened to the outer peripheral surface, and an orifice 23 for exhaust pressure, which communicates the second hydraulic chamber 11 with the exhaust port 22. A pressure regulating chamber 24 is formed by extending the exhaust pressure port 22, and a spool valve 25 is disposed in the chamber 24. The working pressure of the spool valve is conducted from the second hydraulic chamber 1 directly through a passage, not through the passage 21. In this arrangement, the spool valve 25 is adapted to open and close the orifice for exhaust pressure according to whether the pressure of the second hydraulic chamber 11 is below or above a designated value. Accordingly, clutch engagement can be accomplished without shock.
