A door holding device for vehicle doors comprises a casing (1) and a catching belt (2) which is longitudinally guided in the said casing (1) and rotary catch elements which are resiliently mounted between the casing (1) and the catching belt (2) and which lock into catch recesses (7) which correspond to holding positions of the vehicle door, the catching belt (2) being guided on its edge in the casing (1), the catch recesses (7) being formed on its longitudinal edges (6) and the catch elements comprising rollers (3) which roll on the longitudinal edges (6). <IMAGE>
