PURPOSE:To improve the safety of operation control, by rewriting a learning value when a steady state of engine operation continues for a predetermined time, and an output value from an O2 sensor remains in a rich condition or a lean condition during this predetermined time. CONSTITUTION:During the operation of an engine 1, a microcomputer 15 computes a fundamental fuel injection width Tp according to output signals from an air flow meter 17 and a crank angle sensor 21. Then, the width Tp is multiplied by a correction factor obtained from an output from a throttle sensor 18 or the like, a correction factor obtained from an output from an O2 sensor 16, and a correction factor by learning, thereby obtaining a final injection width Ti and controlling an injector 4. While the correction factor by learning is obtained by using a learning value table constituted of item indicating an engine operational condition, a learning value written on the learning value table is rewritten when a steady state of engine operation continues for a predetermined time and the output from the O2 sensor 16 is not varied during this predetermined time.
