<p>1,173,734. Modified alkyd resin. RHEINPREUSSEN A.G. FœR BERGBAU UND CHEMIE. 19 July, 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 34644/68. Heading C3R. Alkyd resins are modified by heating at 20- 200‹ C. with 0À1 to 10% by weight of a compound containing at least two glycidyl groups linked directly to nitrogen. Specified compounds are N-diglycidyl isopropylamine and N,N<SP>1</SP> - diglycidyl - N,N<SP>1</SP> - diisopropyl - 1,3 - diamino 2 - hydroxypropane. The modified resin may be mixed with pigments, e.g. carbon black and driers, e.g. Co and Pb naphthenates to give coating compositions. The examples disclose resins prepared from (1) castor oil, glycerol and phthalic anhydride, (2) and (3) 3,3- dimethylol-butan-2-ol, phthalic anhydride, ricinoleic acid and soya bean oil fatty acid.</p> |
