<p>An apparatus for automatically removing cake deposits (42) from the surface of filter cloths (27) within a filter press. The apparatus includes a rod (41) for suspending the cloth (27) in a substantially inverted ''V''-shaped configuration. The cloth (27) is ten slackened by lowering a rod (41) over which the cloth is folded. The rod (41) is then suddenly forced upwardly under the driving force of a loading means (58). The rod (41) draws the cloth to a taut, tensioned condition, imparting a whip-like motion to the fabric of the filter cloth. This imparted motion serves to disengage the cake (42) from the filter cloth (27).</p> |
