PURPOSE:To perform the writing operation of plural tracks within the shortest processing time by detecting an unwritten sector by an unwritten sector detection head after seeking operation. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk device seeks for an adjacent track on an optical disk firstly when writing data on the adjacent track continuously after writing data on some certain track. A firmware control circuit 14 detects an unwritten sector by the unwritten sector detection head 11 after the seeking operation and writes a logical address generated by a logical address generating circuit 15 and data sent from a host device through a data buffer circuit 16 in the 1st detected unwritten sector by a write/read head 12. Thus, the unwritten sector is detected after the seeking operation to perform the writing operation regardless of a substitute sector, thereby performing the writing operation of plural tracks in the shortest processing time.
