PURPOSE:To satisfactorily rewrite a data signal by providing a recording thin film magnetic head with a magnetic gap on the floating surface of a slider and two erasure heads with magnetic gaps on the floating surface at corresponding positions on both sides of the head, which are the down stream of the recording head. CONSTITUTION:A recording are reproducing induction type thin film magnetic head 21 and erasure heads 22A and 22B of the same type as that of the head 21 are provided to the floating surface 13a of the slider moving in the radium direction (b) of a rotating magnetic recording medium 12. The heads 22A and 22B are positioned at the down stream of the head 21 and on the slider 13, and the external and internal gap ends lie outside and inside the track, respectively. The magnetic gap of each head is present on the floating surface 13a of the slider. The head 21 records a new data signal, while the heads 22A and 22B erase both sides of the track by the prescribed width. Accordingly, even if the position of the track deviates from that of the recording head 21, an old signal is not omitted in terms of erasure, rewriting is satisfactorily executed to eliminate cross talk. |
