PURPOSE:To obtain a combined filament yarn having shrinkage difference between the constituent yarns, excellent thermal stability and high strength and elongation, by producing a pair of melt-spun yarn groups taken up at a specific spinning tension and heat-treating the yarn groups varying the heat- treatment times from each other. CONSTITUTION:A pair of polyester fiber yarn groups A, B spun by melt-spinning and taken up at a spinning tension of >=0.7g/d are heat-treated at a temperature lower than the melting point of the polyester by 50-150 deg.C. In the above process, the heat-treatment period of the yarn group B is made longer than that of the yarn group A by using Nelson-type heating rollers 3a, 3b, etc. The heat- treated yarn groups A and B are doubled and wound at a winding speed of >=4,000m/min.
