PURPOSE:To jointly select related data, as well, and to set it as an object to be edited, by setting display data which has been selected by a data deciding means, as the object to be edited, and also displaying emphatically the display data. CONSTITUTION:In case a position input device 2 indicates a point P in a rectangle B, namely, in case input position information 2001 indicates an area of the rectangle B except an area of rectangles D, E, a data deciding device 4 selects all display data that are picture-drawn and displayed above the rectangle B, and also positioned in the area of the rectangle B. In this case not only the rectangle B but also the rectangles D, E are selected together. Also, the device 4 sends the selected display data for requesting am emphatical display to the selected display data, to a display device 5 through a signal line 4041. The device 5 reads out display information stored in a display information storage device 3, through a signal line 3002, converts a data format to a form conforming with a display device 1, and outputs it to the device 1 through a signal line 5031.
