1,241,095. Dynamo-electric machines. KELSEY-HAYES CO. 6 March, 1969 [1 July, 1968], No. 12048/69. Heading H2A. The annular, toothed rotor 46 of a tachogenerator is supported on a shaft 14 by a drive ring 58 and engages a bearing surface on the stator 20, the connection between the rotor and drive ring permitting relative movement between the rotor and stator without altering substantially the air gap 54. In Fig. 1, the drive ring has axial teeth 60 engaging slots 52 in the rotor and the bearing surface is provided by the end face of a bobbin 38 of P.T.F.E. carrying a sensing coil 36. The stator permanent magnet 32 holds the rotor against the bearing surface on which it is located by an annular projection 42 engaging a recess 44 in the rotor. In a modification, the projection and recess, and the sliding engagement of the rotor and bobbin, are replaced by a ball bearing assembly (70), Fig. 3 (not shown). In a further arrangement, the drive ring 58 comprises a toothed resilient ring (80), Fig. 5 (not shown), similar to that shown in Specification 1,188,486. |
