PURPOSE:To obtain measurement with high accuracy and improve the reliability of data by automatically measuring the rate of oil contained in a refrigerant from the output of a densimeter provided in between a condenser and an expansion valve. CONSTITUTION:A refrigerant from a condenser 2 is bypassed and sampled and its density is measured by a vibration type densimeter 5 which is provided in between the condenser 2 and an expansion valve 3. An electric power for generating heat corresponding to the evaporation heat of the refrigerant in a heater 6 is fed to an evaporator 4, and this electric power is measured by a wattmeter 7. Since the output of density of the densimeter 5 is varied with the content of oil in the circulating refrigerant, the relation between the output of the densimeter and the oil content in the refrigerant is previously obtained and the operation of oil content in the refrigerant is carried out based on the output of the densimeter 5 by an operating means 8 such as a calculator, to obtain the oil content. Thus, by automatically measuring the oil content in the refrigerant using the densimeter 5, measurement with high accuracy can be obtained while improving the reliability of data.
