PURPOSE:To estimate the water content of the dehydrated cake by recognizing the evaporation residue, coarse suspended matter, anion activity, crude protein, and org. component of the sludge when a cationic org. high molecular flocculant is added to org. sewage and the sludge is dehydrated by a dehydrator. CONSTITUTION:When a cationic org. high molecular flocculant is added to org. sewage and the sludge is dehydrated by the belt press type dehydrator, the evaporation residue, coarse suspended matter, anion activity, crude protein, and org. component of the sludge are recognized, and the water content of the cake is estimated by the equation obtained from the filtration rate, filter cloth speed, addition rate of a pressure flocculant which are given as the conditions along with the factors. In the equation, (y) is the water content (%) of the dehydrated cake, X1 is the evaporation residue (%), X2 is the coarse suspended matter (%), X3 is the anion activity (meq/g-TS), X4 is the crude protein (%), X5 is the org. component (%), X6 is the addition rate (%) of the flocculant, X7 is the filtration rate (kg-ds/m-H), X8 is the filter cloth speed (m/min), and X9 is the pressure (kg/cm<2>). Consequently, the dehydrated cake can be estimated with sufficient pertinence without operating the actual machine.
