摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the cushioning effect by detecting the road surface condition with an ultrasonic-type rugged-object sensing device, judging the cushioning device response time and the rugged-object sensing time based on the detected car speed, determining the rugged-object passing time, and controlling the cushioning device. CONSTITUTION:A transmission signal (a) is transmitted from a transmitting sensor 11 of an ultrasonic-type front ruggedness sensing device 1, is reflected by the ruggedness of the front road surface, and is received by a receiving sensor 12. The received signal is amplified 13 and detected 14 and is fed to a control unit 3. The control unit 3 generates a control signal (f) optimum to shock cushioning in response to the quantity of the road surface ruggedness, also determines the output timing of the control signal (f) based on the car speed signal from a car speed sensor 2, and feeds the control signal (f) to shock absorbers 41, 42. According to this constitution, shock is reliably mitigated.
