PURPOSE:To prevent the sinking or capsizal and reduce the necessary space and facilitate the reconstruction work by constituting the necessary parts of the broadside outer plates as an outer plate member which can be freely opened and closed and connecting said outer plate member and a hull by an expandable bag, thus permitting a float-shaped buoyancy body to be formed outwardly from the broadside in case of necessity. CONSTITUTION:The region in a prescribed length of a broadside outer plate 2 is constituted as an outer plate part body 3 which is freely opened and closed in the direction of ship width, and said outer plate part body 3 and a hull 1 are connected by an expandable and contractable floating gag 4 made of rubber. The floating bag 4 is constituted into a multichamber type panel-like form, and the rear surface part is fixed onto the hull 1, and the front surface part is fixed onto the lower part of the outer plate part body 3. The floating bag 4 is in folded state in ordinary case, and can be expanded by pouring the sealed expansion gas or air from the proper position in the rear surface part, if necessary. Therefore, sinking or capsizal can be prevented by expanding the floating bag 4 and forming a float-shaped buoyancy body 4 outwardly from the broadside, in case of necessity. Further, since the device can be installed in the utilization of the structure of the broadside outer plate 2, high efficiency can be achieved, and the necessary space can be reduced, and reconstruction work can be executed easily.
