PURPOSE:To improve reliability of a head by forming a film of tantalum oxide Ta2O5 by a thin film forming technique on the butt surface at the top ends of a set of cores, butting a set of the cores to each other to unit the cores and constituting a gap between the mating butt faces at the top ends of both cores. CONSTITUTION:A winding groove 14a and a glass groove 14b to be inserted therein with a glass rod for melt sticking are worked by a rotary grindstone or the like on the inside surface side of one core half 11a and a Ta2O5 film 13 is formed across the groove 14a on the inside end face on the groove 14a side of the core half 11a by a thin film forming technique and a Ta2O5 film 13b is similarly formed on the inside end face of the other core half 11b as well in accordance with the film 13a. Both core halves 11a and 11b are butted to each other on the inside surface part thereof and a low melting glass rod 2' for melt sticking is inserted into the groove 14a and the groove 14b. The rod 2' is melted to joint both core halves 11a and 11b. The joined core 11 is spliced in the position of the line A-A' and the front of the groove 14a is cylindrically ground along the line B-B' to form the sliding contact surface with a tape, by which a magnetic head 10 formed with a magnetic gap (g) is obtd. |
