PURPOSE:To safely obtain the titled slurry at a low cost using an apparatus having a simple structure without the need for using an apparatus having a high-pressure structure, by mixing pulverized coal and low-temp. liq. carbon dioxide in a pressure mixing vessel at low temp. under low pressure. CONSTITUTION:Pulverized coal supplied from a feeding device 1 via a powder pump 2 is mixed with a low-temp. liq. carbon dioxide which has been produced in a carbon dioxide liquefying apparatus 4 and kept at a temp. slightly higher than the solidification temp., i.e., -56 deg.C, with an agitating device 7, in a pressure mixing vessel 3 which is kept cool with a heat insulator 5 under a pressure of 5-6kg/cm<2>G. The coal-liq. carbon dioxide slurry thus obtd. is sent to a slurry tank 9 or a transportation pipeline 10 through a slurry pump 8. Carbon dioxide which has been vaporized in the vessel 3 is sent via a pressure-regulating valve 6 to a liquefying apparatus 4, where it is liquefied again.
