摘要 PURPOSE:To shorten a working time, to simplify the work and to reduce the size of a connection part by previously fitting a reinforcing member of an optical fiber to the terminal of an optical cable, and after executing terminal processing, executing the axial aligning and fixing of the optical fiber in splicing work. CONSTITUTION:A part of a coat member 5 of an optical fiber core 2 is removed, the partially removed part is inserted into a cylindrical hole 6A of the reinforcing member 6, the optical fiber core 2 and the reinforcing member 6 are mutually fixed with a bonding agent 7, and the end surface part 6-1 is smoothed by grinding it to make the end surface part of the optical fiber coincide with that of the reinforcing member 6. Since the outer diameters of the reinforcing members 6, 6' are formed with high accuracy, the axial aligning of optical fibers 4, 4' arranged on the centers of the reinforcing members 6, 6' can be attained by arraying the terminal parts 3 of the optical cable 1 on a V-groove base 10. The end surface parts of the smoothed reinforcing members 6, 6' are mutually stuck to each other, fused and joined with each other. Since splicing work in the field is completed only by axial aligning and fixing work, the work can be simplified.
