PURPOSE:To facilitate working and to reduce the weight of a vertical magnetic head by allowing a magnetic shield block which has a main magnetic pole body embedded in a recessed place to include magnetic fluid. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic fluid 46c consisting of iron powder, etc., is charged in the housing 46a of a box lid type main magnetic pole shield block 46 and a main magnetic pole block 45 is embedded and fixed in the recessed part 46b; and an auxiliary magnetic pole shield block 49 is provided opposite it across a recording medium 4 and the magnetic fluid 49b is charged in the housing 49a. Even if an external magnetic field 32 with a code X3 is applied during recording or reproducing it passes through the blocks 46 and 49 and there is no influence exerted upon recording magnetic flux 33. Therefore, the formation of the housing is easy, the shield block is reduced in size, and the response of head access is improved, thereby reducing the load on a servo system.
