An internal combustion engine is created, which differs from conventional internal combustion engines in its method of drive power transmission in that in a pivotably mounted rotating body 3, the rear rotating body bearing shaft 27 of which is simultaneously designed as drive or output shaft, two opposing crankshafts 4, pivotably mounted in parallel far outside the bore axis of the rotating body 3, are arranged, the connecting rods 45 and pistons 47 of which, also located in the rotating body 3 and acting transversely to the direction of rotation of the crankshafts 4 are guided by associated cylinder liners 34, and the front crankshaft journals 41 laterally projecting from the rotating body 3 and provided with firmly attached crankshaft gears 42, intermesh with the toothing of an annular gear 7 fixed on the housing front section 6. <IMAGE>
