PURPOSE:To strengthen squish to enhance combustion speed and enhance anti- knocking property by forming a gap of squish area disposed around a main combustion chamber, in such a way as its portion near the main combustion chamber is narrower than its portion far from the main combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:When a position 12 is moved downward, an exhaust port 18, an auxiliary scavenging port 20 and a main scavenging port 22 are opened and a mixture gas flows to a main combustion chamber 24 from each port 22, 20 to press an already burned gas to the exhaust port 18. On the other hand, when the piston 12 is moved upward, the mixture gas is compressed and jetted to the main combustion chamber 24 from a squish area 28 at the portion near the top dead center. At this time, the mixture gas is already ignited by means of an ignition plug 26 and the flame is spread at high speed by squish. In this case, since the squish area 28 has a smaller gap X at the portion near the main combustion chamber 24, the squish is more violent and the transmitting speed of the flame is increased. Thus, the combustion performance can be enhanced.
