<p>A coating applicator having a high speed rotary atomizer bell, 12, driven by an air turbine, 23, has a governor 28, which controls the speed of the air turbine to provide more uniform atomization throughout a wide range of loads on the atomizer. Compressed air flows through passages 19, 20, 21, the turbine wheel, 23, and, through openings 24 in the turbine wheel to exhaust ports 25.
