To produce doors or other panel elements which correspond in appearance to panelled doors, a panelling pattern is obtained by simple relief-pressing of a thin top plate 2 which is mounted on a support frame 10. The top plate 2, which is coated with veneer or paper, is produced from a wood fibre or chip mass 14 which is pressed and heated only to the extent that the plate material becomes leather-like, i.e. without the binder hardening. When the top plate 2 is relief-pressed, heat is supplied such that the binder hardens after a final deformation pressure has been achieved, the final product thus being obtained in a simple and inexpensive manner. <IMAGE> |
