PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition which is highly expandable, is excellent in water resistance and solvent resistance and can give a nonwoven fabric decreased in a content of residual free HCHO, by mixing a specified copolymer emulsion with an HCHO-free, nitrogen-containing glyoxal resin, a metal salt catalyst and a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer emulsion (A) is obtained by mixing vinyl acetate (a) with ethylene (b) and a monomer (c) of formula I (wherein R1 is H or CH3 and R2 is H or a 5C or lower alkyl) at a weight ratio of a:b:c of 55-96.5:40-3:5-0.5. 100pts.wt. component A is mixed with 1-10pts.wt. HCHO- free, nitrogen-containing glyoxal resin (B) (e.g., 1,3-dimethyl-4,5-dihydroxy-2- imidazolidinone, 0.05-4pts.wt. metal salt catalyst (C) (e.g., MgCl2) and 2-10pts. wt. (based on nonvolatiles in component A) higher alcohol sulfate surfactant (D) of formula II (wherein R is an 8C or higher alkyl, n is 0-10 and M is a monovalent cation). |
