PURPOSE:To provide a stable ignition operation having no erroneous operation caused by a spark noise by a method wherein a laser beam is directly projected from a laser generating part to gas outputted from a gas burner. CONSTITUTION:A gas block 2 for use in supplying gas to a burner 1 and a laser light generating part 6 positioned to cause a laser ray 6a to be directly struck against one or a plurality of gases 1c produced from flame holes 1a of a gas burner are arranged, and a control block 7 for controlling the gas block and the laser beam generating part 6 is constructed. Therefore, a laser ray is produced from the laser generating part and then gas is supplied to the burner. The gas produced from the flame holes in the burner is struck against the previously generated laser beam and the gas is ignited with an energy of laser. No spark noise is found as compared with an ignition device under a high voltage spark in a conventional manner, and no noise is generated in an electric circuit within a control block, resulting in that a stable ignition operation can be performed.
