PURPOSE:To prevent gas leakage during the stoppage of an operation surely, by disposing a movable ring on the outer circumference of a shaft wherein the ring is forcibly touched with the seal projection of a shaft sleeve by the force of a spring when seal gas is not supplied, and has a labyrinth seal portion at the inner circumferential portion thereof. CONSTITUTION:A movable seal ring 10 which is able to be moved axially and with which labyrinth seal between the outer circumferential surface of a shaft 3 and itself can be carried out is disposed at the outer circumference of the shaft 3. A diaphragm 11 is disposed between the movable seal ring 10 and the housing of a body 1 at the inside a of the body of the movable seal ring 10, and a spring 15 which presses the movable seal ring 10 toward the opposite side of the inside A of the body is provided. The seal projection 16 of a shaft sleeve 8 which prevents gas leakage during the stoppage of an operation with forcibly touching the ring 10 is provided at the opposite side of the inside A of the body of the movable seal ring 10, and a space 18 in which seal gas is supplied during the operation is provided.
