The invention relates to a device for detecting overfilled and underfilled bottles and/or unfilled bottles which contain traces of cleaning liquor or other residues. Such devices are essential for controlling filling systems. The aim of the invention is to increase the operational reliability of the system. The object of the invention is to develop a new measuring principle, in which adjacent bottles do not effect the measured value or only have a very small effect on it. The object is achieved in that transmission and/or receiving antennae take the form of slot antennae, both antennae are arranged at the level of liquid in the bottle and the slots of both antennae are arranged on the same side of the bottle, alongside one another or one above the other. The slots of the antennae are arranged at an angle of 0...45 DEG with respect to one another.
