PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of passages such as gaps other than clearances in the particulate material in the direction of the liquid flow, by permitting the supply of a liquid from a reservoir to a particulate material filling layer sideways. CONSTITUTION:A circular concave 4 is provided at the center of a lower member 2 and ring-shaped liquid reservoirs 15 outside thereof to supply a liquid B in the reservoir 15 to a filler a in the concave section 4 through a path 16 from outside. Regardless of a gap between the upper member 3 and the filler A, this enables the liquid B to run in priority to any gap path within the filler A because the supply of the liquid B is done side ways with respect to the filler A and it is hydrophilic property. The upper member 3 is provided with two sets of detection elements 81 and 82 and 81', and 82' as well as air vents 11 at the center. The use of the two sets of detection elements ensures a higher accuracy with aid of average processing technique.
