In order to allow cleaning in both operating directions in a cleaning device for hard surfaces, having two parallel cylindrical brushes which are driven in rotation in opposite directions, having a spraying apparatus for applying a cleaning liquid onto the surface to be cleaned, and having an extractor to extract the cleaning liquid containing the dirt removed from the surface to be cleaned, it is proposed that the spraying apparatus be arranged between the two cylindrical brushes, that the region of the surface to be cleaned bounded by the two brushes be bounded on the longitudinal sides by edge strips extending from one brush to the other, and that the extractor be arranged between the brushes in the region of the edge strips.
