PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having a high color forming sensitivity and excellent preservability, by using two phenolic compounds, 4-hydroxylphenyl-beta- phenoxyethyl sulfide and 4,4'-thiobis(3-methyl-6-tert-butylphenol), as a color-developing substance. CONSTITUTION:The weight ratio of the amount of a compound of formula I used to the amount of a compound of formula II used is 5-90%, preferably, 15-75%. The color developing substance (compounds of formulas I and II) is used in an amount of 0.5-10pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of a color forming substance. An ordinary color developing substance other than the compounds of formulas I and II may be jointly incorporated in a thermal recording material. Further, if required, additives such as a sensitizing substance and a filler may be appropriately incorporated in the recording material. The thermal recording material is obtained by a method wherein the color forming substance and the color developing substance consisting of the compounds of formulas I and II separately ground to an average particle diameter of 0.5-3mum are mixed, then the sensitizing substance, the filler, a lubricant or the like is further added to the mixture, as required, to prepare a thermal color forming layer forming liquid, and the liquid is applied to a base so as to obtain a dried weight of 5-15g/m<2>, followed by drying. |
