Fan for cooling electronic installations comprising a square casing with central electric motor (8) for the impeller wheel and in which a first main surface (7) of the casing is arranged perpendicular to the rotation axis of the impeller wheel parallel to the direction of the inflow, whereby the flow is then deflected through 90 and emerges from the casing on at least one side face perpendicular to this first main surface. The invention results in a remarkable noise reduction.
