The instrument (10) serves to continuously measure residual amounts of oxidising agents which depolarise galvanic cells, in particular chlorine, chlorine dioxide or ozone, in drinking water, industrial water or swimming-pool water. The test water (M) is fed via a hollow body (50) having at least one lateral exit opening (52) into an internal tube (30) whose height is adjustable. A bypass (48) which feeds the main quantity of the test water (M) tangentially into a measuring cell (25) branches off underneath the exit opening(s) (52). The test water (M) rises in a rotating flow and, during this process the sand (56) added cleans the inside of the annular copper electrode (46). The remaining test water (M) rises in the internal tube (30) and flows in a small amount over an overflow, thereby ensuring a constant dynamic pressure at the bypass inlet. <IMAGE> |
