Feed unit for wire-shaped material

A description is given of a feed unit for wire-shaped material having a driven wheel and a co-driven counter wheel, between which the material to be fed is guided. In order to determine the occurrence of slippage, a sensor is provided which detects the rotation of the co-driven counter wheel. Specifically, the invention has found that the feed path covered by the counter wheel is always equal to the feed length of the wire-shaped material even if slippage occurs between the drive wheel and the wire-shaped material.
