A device for attenuating/absorbing infrasound consists of a housing (1) which encloses an infrasonic generator in an encapsulated fashion and is formed from large-format attenuating/absorbing plates (4). In order to produce the device with a low outlay and to accommodate it in the smallest space, the attenuating/absorbing plates (4), which form the walls (2) of the housing (1), are connected in each case via at least two swinging brackets (12, 13), which are suspended like pendulums, and the attenuating/absorbing plate (4) forming the cover (3) is connected via at least three tension springs (19) to a support frame (9) surrounding the housing (1) at a distance. <IMAGE>
