A unit comprises a housing with a fuel chamber in an air intake passage and spaced from the passage wall. The chamber has a microporous rigid wall with a pore size of about 4.0 microns, and is enclosed so that no air can enter the chamber. The chamber is rotatable about its axis of symmetry and is supplied with fuel via a conduit. Chamber rotation forces fuel centrifugally through the wall so that it emerges in substantially gaseous form and a velocity component tangential to the wall to ensure thorough mixing with air. The wall is pref. of ceramic and the chamber contains 6-16 mesh granular carrier of activated charcoal, alumina or silica gel, and is rotated by an electric motor at about 10,000 rpm. The unit is e.g. for an I.C. engine. |
