PURPOSE:To prevent a ribbon from sagging at the time of printing and print with a uniform density, by a method wherein press guides consisting of piezoelectric elements are reciprocated relatively to ribbon guides in synchronism with a printing timing of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:The press guides 15 for pressing the ribbon 14 against the ribbon guides 13 when feeding of a paper 12 on a platen 11 and the ribbon 14 is stopped are constituted of piezoelectric elements, and are impressed with a voltage synchronous with the printing timing of the printing head 16, thereby pressing the ribbon 14 against the ribbon guides 13 at the time of printing. When the printing speed is high, a bending action of the guides 15 by crystalline strains also takes place rapidly. |
