PURPOSE:To restrain the deformation of a zinc electrode plate and improve the charge/discharge cycle life of a battery by specifying the thickness of a positive and a negative electrode plate and the theoretical capacity ratio of a positive and a negative electrode plates and by further specifying the loading density of positive and negative electrode plates. CONSTITUTION:In a nickel-zinc battery which has a nickel positive electrode plate 2, a zinc negative electrode plate 1, and a separator 3 placed between the positive and negative electrode plates and which uses an alakli water solution as electrolyte, the positive electrode plate 2 and the negative electrode plate 1 are each specified to be 0.3-1.2mm. in thickness, and the theoretical capacity of the negative electrode plate 1 is specified to be 2.5-8 times as large as that of the positive electrode plate 2. Furthermore, for example, the loading density of the positive electrode plate 2 is specified to be 0.2-0.6AH/cm<2>, and that of the negative electrode plate 1 to be 1.0-2.0AH/cm<2>. In this way, a nickel-zinc battery can be produced which can prevent interior short circuitings due to deformation of its zinc electrode plate, improve the charge/discharge effectivity, and lengthen the charge/discharge cycle life. |
