PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity for manually feeding a tap of large bore while to enable tapping by an NC machine and a machining center to be performed, by providing a slide holder shaft, fitted by a ball spline being movable in the axial direction, in a holder main unit. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical member 2 is fitted stopping a turn by a key 2a to a cylindrical part 1b in a holder main unit 1, and a slide holder shaft 5 is fitted to be supported slidably in the axial direction into the cylindrical member 2 through a ball spline 4. And the shaft 5, mounting a tap 6, is fixed by a stop screw 7. It is only required, for tapping by this tapper, to screw the tap 6 to a rough thread hole and rotate the tapper. That is, the tapper, in which the slide holder shaft 5 slides in the axial direction, reasonably feeds the tap 6. Accordingly, the necessity for manually feeding a large bore tap, difficult in the past, is eliminated, while the tapper enables tapping to be performed by an NC machine and a machining center.
