A non-gelled amine-epoxide reaction product (I) is claimed and prepd. by reacting: (a) secondary amine of formula NHR1R2 (I) where R1 and R2 = 1-18C alkyl, cycloalkyl, substd. (cyclo)alkyl or R1 and R2 together with the N atom may form an opt. substd. cyclic gp.; (b) polyepoxide; (c) polyoxyalkylene polyamine; and opt. (d) monoepoxide. - A coating compsn. comprising an aq. dispersion of an ionisable acid salt of (I) and a cathodic electrodeposition coating process using the coating compsn. are also claimed.
