PURPOSE:To improve the rust preventiveness of a Cu alloy wire by dipping a wire in the soln. of a rust preventive agent in water or an org. solvent such as trichlene, pulling up the wire into the air and removing the solvent in the soln. sticking to the wire by forced drying with blowers in a noncontact state. CONSTITUTION:The wire 1 of a Cu alloy contg. a readily oxidizable metal such as Ti, Si, Cr or Zn is passed through a rust preventing tank 2, where a rust preventing soln. prepd. by adding 0.5vol% benzotriazole to trichlene is stuck to the wire 1. The wire 1 is pulled up into the air with a guide roll 5 and the solvent in the rust preventing soln. sticking to the wire 1 is removed by forced drying with blowers 3 in a noncontact state to stick uniformly the rust preventive to the surface of the wire 1. Even when the treated Cu alloy wire is allowed to stand in the air for a long period, it does not tarnish or rust and can maintain the superior solderability and platability peculiar to the Cu alloy.
