PURPOSE:To provide the titled complex consisting of sodium hydroxide and water included in an alcohol having a specific boiling point range, easily handleable and capable of giving sodium hydroxide having weak deliquescence and easily handleable in the form of a solid convenient for transportation by heating in vacuum. CONSTITUTION:Sodium hydroxide and water are included in an alcohol having a boiling point of 80-150 deg.C such as isopropanol, tert-butanol, cyclopentanol, etc. The concentration of the aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is 40-60wt%, preferably 45-55wt%. The ratio of added alcohol to the aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is 5-100wt%, preferably 10-50wt%. The complex can be produced simply by mixing and stirring the above alcohol and aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide and the inclusion reaction temperature is 0-70 deg.C, preferably 10-30 deg.C. The objective complex is represented by formula (0.5<=X<=10; 1<=Y<=12).
