The invention relates to devices for driving by traction with variable gear ratios. It relates to a device which comprises several drive balls 7 which can rotate about an inclined axis 13, the inclination of the axis being adjustable. The balls 7 are mounted in a support 1 and retained by an outer split ring. Modification of the angle of inclination of the balls 7 gives rise to a change in the ratio of numbers of revolution of the input and output members.
