PURPOSE:To reduce a fuel cost for an engine and its noise by, in regard to the ranges of engine rotational speed and of its largest torque being both in use, concentrating the most part of the range of the largest engine torque being in use on a low speed part within the range of the engine rotational speed being in use. CONSTITUTION:The rotational speed of an engine 1 detected by a revolution detector 9 is input into an electronic controller 10. A quantity regulating valve 3 regulates the fuel injection quantity of a fuel injection pump 2 to control the number of revolution for the engine 1. The working position of the quantity regulating valve 3 is detected by a position detector 13, and then introduced into a microcomputer 11, which computes a control signal for the quantity regulating valve 3 on the basis of an operating position signal issued from an operating position detector 16 mounted on an accel pedal 15 and the rotational speed signal of the engine 1. Thus, a fuel cost for the engine and its noise can be reduced.
