PURPOSE:To attain the execution of transactions even in case the return of a card is impossible by displaying an identification number in place of the card and substituting the input of the identification number for the insertion of the card. CONSTITUTION:When a card return action is not carried out normally, a customer is unable to receive his/her demand cash and the card is not returned either. Thus an ATM 2 transmits a fault telegram to a host computer 1 to show that the return of the card is impossible. Then the computer 1 delivers a confirmation telegram including the identification number of the account of deposit for the return unable card. This received identification number is displayed on a display device. When a substitute transaction where the identification number is used in place of a card is selected, both the identification number and the card identification number are accepted. Then the demanded amount supplied in the previous error transaction mode is discharged in cash if the substitute transaction is permitted.
