PURPOSE:To eliminate the sealing structure of the terminal lead-out part and enable the thickness of a sealed lead storage battery to be made small by using laminate plates each formed by sticking plastic films to the both surfaces of a metallic plate to construct the battery jar and using the metallic plates as current collectors. CONSTITUTION:A flat rectangular positive active material 5 is placed facing a flat rectangular negative active material 6 through a separator 7. The separator 7 is a porous plate with good liquid retention such as a mat consisting of glass fibers or hydrophilic plastic fibers with diameter of 5mum or less. The liquid electrolyte is impregnated into and held by the active materials 5 and 6 and the separator 7, and no fluidic electrolyte is present. Laminate plates 8 and 8' are placed in such a manner as to make the exposed surfaces 1' of metallic plates 1 in contact with the surfaces of the active materials 5 and 6 not touching the separator 7. Therefore, the metallic plates 1 act as current collectors. The peripheries 10, 10' and 10'' of the laminate plates 8 and 8' are fused and their top portions 11 having an evacuation structure are fused through a plastic frame 9. |
