PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous erasing of a system data memory or an erroneous rewriting and to easily facilitate a reference or the writing by referring to or rewriting the system data memory with the coincidence of a password inputted from the telephone set or the like with the password previously stored in the memory. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 1 controls a ROM 2 including a system data memory reference and a rewriting program 3 and a hardware control part 7 by a program and data from a RAM 4 including the system data memory 5 and a password storing memory 6. When a request for referring to the system data and rewriting is received from the key telephone set 8, in the system data reference and the rewriting program 3, the password is inputted on the respective passwords from N=1 to N=n, those are collated to the password PN previously written in the password storing memory 6 and when both the passwords coincide, the value of N is renewed. This processing is repeated and when all the passwords of the passwords 1-n coincide, the reference of the system data memory and the rewriting processings are performed.
