PURPOSE:To very faithfully read the radiation picture with a wide dynamic range by using a head on type photomultiplier as a photoelectric conversion device. CONSTITUTION:The light to transmit a film 7 receives the modulation by the concentration of the picture recorded at the film 7, is focused by an optical fiber bundle 8, made incident on a photomultiplier, photoelectric-converted there and comes to be electric signal. For the photomultiplier 9, a head on type (the type where the light receiving surface is arranged to the tip) is effective, linked to an optical output edge 8a of the optical fiber bundle 8, and then, the head on type is limited. Namely, the relative size is determined so that the area of a light receiving surface 9a of the photomultiplier 9 is larger than the area of an optical output edge 8b of the fiber bundle 8, both are coaxially linked, and then, the light receiving surface 9a is covered with the optical output edge 8b, and therefore, the red light information can be catched without any loss.
