PURPOSE:To perform plasma-initiated polymerization in good reproducibility of post-polymerization state by stabilizing generation of plasma, by setting electrodes at that part which is not cooled even when the part which contains a monomer is cooled and performing plasma-initiated polymerization. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 are set along that part 1b of a reaction vessel 1 which can hardly be cooled even when the part 1a which contains a monomer or its solution is cooled. A given amount of a monomer or its solution 7 is placed in the reaction vessel 1. After purging dissolved oxygen by, for example, blowing nitrogen gas, the sample is solidified by cooling with a liquid coolant or the like, and the coolant is removed by aspiration through a connection piece 6. When the vacuum in the reaction vessel has reached about 0.01-10Torr, plasma is generated in the reaction vessel by applying a high-frequency electric field to the electrodes 2 through an automatic matching device 4 from a high-frequency generator 5. After the lapse of a given time, the generation of plasma is stopped and the reaction vessel 1 is sealed at a sealing part 1c to conduct post-polymerization in predetermined conditions.
