The subject of the present invention relates to an active section which comprises a section 1 of rectangular cross-section which is open on one of its planes in a longitudinal slot 7, and a self-propelled carriage 2 inside the said section. The section 1 comprises a longitudinal rack 6 and at least two slides 3, also longitudinal, at the bottom of which a metal conductor 5 is placed. The carriage 2 comprises at least one toothed driving wheel 8 for interacting with the rack 6, two guiding and contact members 9, 10 for interacting with the slides 3, at least one fixing lug 11 projecting through the slot 7 of the section 1 and possibly a secondary supply. Advantageously, the section 1 is made of extruded insulating material. The active section according to the invention is intended for the suspension or support of objects which have to be frequently and easily moved. <IMAGE>
